In a world that constantly screams for more, do you ever find yourself feeling like you’re not doing enough? We live in a society that often equates our worth with our output – the size of our bank account, the accolades on our resume, the perfectly curated moments on our social media feeds, or the sheer busyness of our calendars. It's a constant buzz that tells us if our schedules aren't packed to the brim, if we're not constantly "making the most of every moment," then we must be falling short. And in those moments, it's easy to look around and feel as though everyone else is doing more, achieving more, and therefore, is worth more.
But what if I told you that this entire narrative is a lie?
It’s true that God has blessed us with unique talents and gifts, and there's joy to be found in utilizing them and stewarding this life He's given us. But nowhere in Scripture does God tell us that our worth is found in our productivity, our achievements, or the recognition we receive from the world. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
Our worth is not a result of what we do; it’s a reality of who we are in Christ.
Before you lifted a finger, before you achieved anything, before you even drew your first breath, you were loved and valued by the Creator of the universe. He knit you together in your mother's womb (Psalm 139:13), and while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). His sacrifice wasn't a response to our perfect performance; it was a demonstration of His unconditional love for us, simply because we are His.
The world will always tell us to hustle harder, to strive for more, to prove our value. But God invites us to rest. He invites us to lay down the burden of performance and step into His grace.
If you’re feeling the weight of the "hustle" lie, I invite you to slowly begin to open up your schedule. It might feel counterintuitive at first, almost like you’re doing something "wrong." But creating space in your day – and in your life – isn't about laziness; it's about making room for what matters.
It’s about finding moments for reflection, for sitting at the Lord's feet, and for truly connecting with the people you love. When we intentionally choose less hustle, we create more space to receive from God, to hear His voice affirming our identity, and to truly believe the truth that our worth is found in Jesus. Only by resting in His presence can we begin to see and believe this truth more than the lies the world is constantly yelling at us.
A Friendly Reminder
Our value isn't something we earn; it's a gift we've been given through Christ. You are loved, valued, and wonderfully made, simply because you are His.
If you know someone in your life who seems caught in the relentless cycle of "hurry" and "hustle," I'd like to encourage you to send a faith-centered gift from our gift shop. This could serve as a gentle reminder to pause, breathe, and find rest in God's presence.
Here's to less hustle and more time for what matters.
